Minor Requirements

This minor is designed to prepare students to teach in public schools. A teaching minor may only be received by students graduating with a teaching major. In order to graduate with this minor, students are required to complete Utah State Office of Education licensing requirements. MINOR REQUIREMENTS (37 hours)

For students accepted into the minor after August 1, 2014, grades below C in any required coursework in a teaching major or teaching minor will not be accepted. Teacher candidates must maintain a total GPA of 3.0 or higher throughout the program and to qualify for student teaching. Complete the following:

Requirement 1 – Complete 11 courses
Math 112 – Calculus I
Math 113 – Calculus II
Math 313 – Elementary Linear Algebra
Stat 121 – Principles of Statistics
MthEd 177 – Critical Review of School Math
MthEd 277 – Task Design for Student Learning
MthEd 278 – Assessment of Student Learning
MthEd 301 – Teaching Statistics and Probability
MthEd 308 – Mathematics Teaching with Technology
MthEd 377 – Mathematics Teaching in the Public Schools
MthEd 378 – Practicum with MthEd 377

Requirement 2 – Complete 1 course
MthEd 477R – Secondary Minor Student Teaching

Grades below C will not be accepted.
