  • Social and analytic scaffolding in discourse oriented teaching (with Jill Baxter)
  • Conversations between secondary mathematics student teachers and their cooperating teachers (with Blake Peterson)
  • College mathematics students' understanding of coset and factor group (with Dan Siebert)

Future Plans:

  • Uncovering and understanding the discursive practices that underly mathematics as done by mathematicians, traditional school mathematics, and reform-oriented school mathematics.
  • Implications of these discursive practices for schools and students, especially in regards to equity issues.
