Student Employment

The Department of Mathematics Education has a few opportunities for student employment. Most instructors need a grader for the course they are teaching. If you are interested in grading, it is five hours per week per section. You may work on campus 20 hours per week, so it’s possible you could grade multiple sections for one or more faculty members. The pay is based on your experience and the course you are grading. The grading scale can be found below. You must be enrolled in at least six credit hours (US citizen) the semester you are working (Non-US citizens please check with the International Student Office for requirements). If interested, please contact the instructor of the course for which you would like to grade. You MUST be hired BEFORE you can begin work. We also hire undergraduate research mentors. You would work one-on-one with a faculty member on a specific project. It is ten hours per week and the pay rate for that can be found on the scale below. If this interests you, you can contact an instructor directly and inquire or leave your name with the department secretaries (167 TMCB, 2-1735, office@mathed.byu.edu).
